The institute was established in 1970 as named Pig Research Institute Taiwan, under cooperation between the United Nations and the Republic of China. After the ROC.¡¦s withdrawal from the United Nations, the Institute remained committed to implementing research, thanks to substantial support from the government.
In 1994, the Institute was reorganized as a nonprofit organization. In 2001, it was renamed in ¡§Animal Technology Institute Taiwan¡¨ and reorganized as six divisions, applied biology, animal medicine,
biotechnology, animal resource , technology extension and administration service .

Based on the spirit in ¡¨profession, regimentation, innovation, technology, and service¡¨ and ¡§developing knowledge based on economics of animal production to promote the welfare of human being in life and health¡¨, ATIT is dedicated to develop technology and disseminate relevant information regarding bio technology and animal husbandry.
ATIT focuses on many various projects including animal information and service, establishing least disease production system, environmental protection, promoting animal welfare, setting up a program safety meat supply, and conducting research into genetic engineering and biotechnology, In addition, ATIT shares related technologies, develops practical products, and offers long term technical services and training courses.

To respond the demands of the industry, ATIT will dedicate itself to commercialize the research results and provide technical services.
Meanwhile, to be an international research organization, ATIT strives for cooperation with domestic and international institutions through exchanging research experiences and results.

Finally, in the future, we hope to significantly contribute to greater achievements in animal bio-industry.
